Hold your heart if you're an avid Mindhunter fanseason three has been put on hold by Netflix. That's not all, cast members Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv have reportedly been released from their contracts as well.

According to TVLine, the move comes due to scheduling conflicts at producer David Fincher's end. A Netflix rep released a statement confirming the same,"David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots."

'Murder Mystery' tops Netflix's most popular shows of 2019

There is a silver lining to this, though. The show has not been outright cancelled and according to the rep, "He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.”

The psychological thriller, based loosely on actual FBI interactions with serial killers, revolves around two FBI agents and a psychologist, working together to better understand serial killers' motives.

'The Witcher' becomes the highest-rated Netflix original series

With the streaming giant exploring the crime thriller/psychological thriller genre more - series like You and Conversations with a Killer have been doing really well - this decision comes as a surprise.

Here's hoping Mindhunter gets renewed and with a cast that does the original justice.
