A 22-year-old boy, Abbas, narrowly escaped death after he was shot inside his house in Khayaban-e-Sehar.
The family claimed that two thieves entered the house while they were all asleep.
Screaming and confusion ensued, amidst which one of the thieves shot and injured Abbas. The incident took place late Monday night.
Investigation Officer Rana Iqbal told The Express Tribune that his uncle Asif is the complainant of the case. Asif said that he was asleep when two masked and armed men brought his nephew, Abbas, to his room and woke him up.
The alleged thieves then took Asif and Abbas to the living room where a hue and cry arose and the culprits opened fire.
Luckily, the bullet did not hit any organs and just skimmed beneath his skin at the stomach and exited. He was taken to the nearest private hospital in Clifton, where surgeons declared that Abbas was out of danger.
Clifton SP Tariq Dharejo said that no valuables were missing from the house.
“It would be premature to say anything about the motive but the circumstances suggests that the culprits came to rob the house,” said Dharejo.
Abbas was scheduled to leave for Waterloo University in Canada for the fall semester.
