Tennis: Vesnina downs Buchina

BAKU: Third-seed Elena Vesnina advanced to the second round of the Baku Cup, beating fellow Russian Yana Buchina 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.  Down 2-0 in the third set, Vesnina called a medical timeout and received treatment on her right shoulder. When play resumed, she recovered the break, held two match points at 5-4 and closed out the match on her third match point with a service return. Vesnina next faces France’s Aravane Rezai in the second round.
