In the past  month a string of incidents relating to child molestation have surfaced. Just over the weekend a ten year old boy in Mansehra was  sexually assaulted by a Madrassa teacher. The child was reportedly hospitalized after suffering from various  injuries. The KPK police on Sunday arrested Qari Shamsuddin in connection with the case.

The news along with many preceding incidents relating to child abuse has led to mass public outcry, with several celebrities also sharing their two cents on the matter.

Superstar actor Mahira Khan in a recent tweet urged authorities to make an "example" out of the perpetrators, whom she deemed as "monsters". "Make an example out of these monsters. For God’s sake. For our children’s sake. For the sake of the religion we believe in and for the one they so wrongly claim!!" Mahira said in an emotional tweet which she also later re posted tagging Shireen Mazari.

In another tweet the actor went on to express her cynicism regarding the effectiveness of relevant bodies in convicting the assailants. "No never!! .Because In all these cases power lies with the rapist" Mahira responded to social activist and rights lawyer Khadija Siddique, as the latter pondered over predators being held accountable in the country.

Actor Nadia Jamil, has also been highly vocal about rampant child abuse in the country. In a series of tweets the actor has highlighted various incidents related to child abuse in the country.

"Death is too quick and  easy a punishment for child rapists. Castrate them, lock them up. Let psychologists study their sick, hard minds to understand how we can prevent creating more monsters like them. May they suffer long and painfully" Jamid said in a tweet. In another the actor expressed her wish to assist the government in curtailing such incidents.

"I wish I could assist our current Prime Minister in taking care of children. I’m not good for much but I am good for love and finding amazing people to work in the right direction honestly.
That’s what us mothers do. We nurture. These children need the State to be their mother As soon as possible please!" she said.

Jamil is currently starring in television show Damsa which is based around the theme of child trafficking.

Social activist and public figure Sheniera Akram didn't shy away from discussing the topic as well. "Every time we hear of a child being abused, we say we should have done more to protect them. Let’s not have a next time, let’s act now.

Anyone who knows of a child who may be in harm, it’s your duty to report before it’s too late" she said. "Anyone who thinks their reputation is more important than their own child’s health &safety has rocks in their head. A child’s future is better without abuse than what ever they will face in the future.Families and communities need to band together & fight for their children's welfare" she added.

Others from the showbiz who have recently expressed outrage over incidents such as these include Frieha Altaf, Deepak Perwani and Armeena Khan.
