ISLAMABAD:

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has been granted more than two weeks by the Supreme Court to respond to the allegations levelled against him, stemming from his statement that former federal law minister Babar Awan was liable to be killed.

Sanaullah appeared before Justice Ghulam Rabbani in his chamber, along with two additional advocates general of Punjab, and requested for some time to file a written statement. He asked for copies of Awan’s application as well as an affidavit submitted by Mir Baz Khetran endorsing his claim. He informed the court he would like to consult the Punjab government.

However, Ramzan Chaudhry, counsel for Babar Awan contended that the issue did not concern the Punjab government. The court adjourned the hearing for August 4.
