ISLAMABAD: A subcommittee of Senate Standing Committee on Railways on Monday sought report from Pakistan Railways for non-allotment of plots to Railways’ workers in Jumma Goth (Sindh). The committee meeting chaired by Senator Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi expressed concern over non-allotment of plots after a passage of 23 years. The convenor of the committee said facts revealed that the then management of Pakistan Railways was involved in malpractice and non-allotment of plots to employees. Secretary general Railway’s Housing Society informed the committee that those Railway workers who have paid their total dues of plots at Jumma Goth are still waiting for allotments. He said the plots were announced to be leased by the then minister for railways in 1986, adding that no government since Zia’s regime has taken the issue seriously.
