Founded on the basis of Islam

June 14, 2010

QUETTA: This is with reference to Aziz Akhmad’s article “Where we went wrong” (June 13). The writer’s search of where we went wrong in the history of Pakistan is praiseworthy. He rightly came to the conclusion that the answer to this lies in the country’s foundation. Saadi’s verse is appropriate because it shows the importance of choosing the founding stone before laying the foundation. The demand of a separate country for Muslim Indians was due to the religious identity of Muslims. The existence of Pakistan is based on Islam and so it can never be a secular state.
