Free Education: PEF launches seventh phase of its voucher scheme

Katchi abadis and urban settlements of impoverished sectors in Multan would be selected for this scheme.

The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched the 7th phase of its Education Vouchers Scheme (EVS) and invited applications from private schools to provide free education to children in katchi abadis and from low income families.


On Monday, the PEF officials said that katchi abadis and urban settlements of impoverished sectors in Multan would be selected for this scheme. “The areas we have identified include Bholay Shah, Bashirabad, Ahmadabad and Basti Maswana,” said PEF officer Nadir Kareem. Kareem said that children were being selected from the Khanewal district as well. The largest number of children selected for free schooling would be picked from colony No1, Marzipura colony No3, Abbas Nagare Bhuttapur and Batta Karimabad were selected in the Muzaffargarh district. Hashmi Wala locality, Basti Katchi, Bhutta Shadi Khan, Chak 9-WB and Chak 11-WB have been identified for recruitment in the Vehari district under phase-7 of the EVS scheme.

“We have deployed officers to conduct a survey of other areas that we need to target in this regard,” he said.
