He said this during a ceremony on Sunday to mark the seventh anniversary of Bashir’s martyrdom at the Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar. Bashir had been killed on December 22, 2012, when he was targeted by a suicide bomber blast as he was exiting a corner meeting in the Dhaka Nallbandi area of Qissa Khwani in Peshawar. Bashir and around 13 others were also killed in the attack.
Addressing the audience during the ceremony, Ghulam, Bashir’s elder brother, said: “Bashir Ahmad Bilour and his son Haroon Bilour both sacrificed their lives for the country and they were never afraid of terrorists”.
The ANP leader went on to praise Peshawar High Court ((PHC) Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth, stating that he had created history by announcing the verdict in the high treason case against the former dictator General (retired) Pervez Musharraf.
By doing so, the former federal railways’ minister said, the chief justice had demonstrated to the people that they should never be afraid of dictators or anyone who violates the Constitution. He also appreciated the efforts of former chief justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa for providing justice and an independent judiciary.
ANP central leader and former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that despite the challenges of terrorism and extremism, faced by the ANP during its tenure, they managed to implement developmental schemes in the province. He alleged that massive corruption in the BRT project in Peshawar, the Malam Jabba scandal and high inflation were the gifts of the incumbent PTI government for the poor people of the province.
