PACP, WHO train councillors, doctors to contain HIV across province

Government is utilising all resources to control AIDS, says Dr Malik

SARGODHA: The Punjab AIDS Control Programme (PACP) has completed the training of councillors and doctors of 36 districts in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO).

PACP Programme Director Dr Munir Ahmad Malik said the training session would help participants learn the diagnosis and treatment of human immunodeficiency virus-acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV-AIDS) patients.

He said a total of 25 HIV-AIDS centres were operational in 16 districts of the province where free medical facilities were being provided to patients, adding that in the next two months these centres would be set up in all districts.

The training would also be arranged for the gynecologists and child specialists from next month, he added.

“AIDS treatment is available, masses should not be reluctant to visit the nearest centers as the provincial government is utilising all resources to control AIDS,” Dr Malik said.

The participants said HIV patients avoid consultation of their diseases which is harmful to society. They also said that the disease can be controlled with proper medication.
