Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday was conferred upon Bahrain’s highest civil award by King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.

During his maiden visit to the kingdom, the premier met the king at the Sakhir Palace.

PM Imran’s visit to Bahrain comes on the invitation of King Hamad to attend the country’s National Day celebrations as a guest of honour.

The prime minister touched down in Manama earlier in the day and was received by Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and presented with a guard of honour at a red-carpet reception.

Discussions were held on Pakistan-Bahrain bilateral issues and the regional situation, according to Radio Pakistan.

The prime minister and crown prince also witnessed signing of memorandum of understandings (MoUs) in fields of higher education and scientific research, sports and medical sciences.

The premier is accompanied by a high-level delegation including cabinet members and senior government officials.

This is PM Imran’s first visit to Bahrain since assuming office in August 2018.
