PESHAWAR: At least 11 people were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in a rickshaw on Monday.

The rickshaw was parked in the parking area of the Peshawar High Court (PHC). The explosion had caused panic in the area and vehicles near to the site suffered damage. The mangled wreck of a rickshaw was also spotted at the site.

A report by the Bomb Disposal Team confirmed that the IED had four to five kilograms of explosives.

Police officials said that it is yet to be determined how the device was present in the rickshaw and the driver has been taken in custody for investigation.

The injured were shifted Lady Reading Hospital where one of the victims is in critical condition.

A wound that cannot heal, a winter that never left

Earlier the police had said that the rickshaw's CNG cylinder caused the blast.

Earlier in November, a bomb blast ripped through a rickshaw in Chauburji area of Lahore injuring at least 10 people.

Police had said an IED exploded “prematurely” inside the rickshaw.

Ball bearings, magnet pieces and a few pieces of the device were found at the site of the explosion and the bomb disposal squad said the bomb weighed around three to five kilogrammes.
