Mehwish Hayat not flattered to be on Sexiest Asian Woman list

'How can potential shag-ability be a criteria for comparison?' questioned the star

Entertainment Desk December 16, 2019

Recently Superstar's Mahira Khan and resident Gangster Guriya alias Mehwish Hayat, managed to beat Bollywood megastar Priyanka Chopra on this year’s Sexiest Asian Women list released by Eastern Eye.

Khan and Hayat landed the fifth and ninth spot respectively while Priyanka managed to round the top 10 off. Based on an online poll managed by the UK based publication, the list also features Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, with the former snagging the top spot from Padukone, who dropped down to second place on the list.

However, in a recent tweet, Hayat claimed that she wasn't flattered to be on the list at all - even though she was when she landed the list ten years ago but such things don't seem to make sense to her anymore.

She said, "I’ve been receiving a lot of congratulatory messages via texts & social media. I should be flattered to be on the list of sexiest Asians and to be honest, ten years ago when I was the 1st Pakistani to make it onto the list I was."

Continuing to justify her statement, she added that the idea of such a list itself is archaic."'Sexy' is defined as 'sexually attractive or alluring'. How can potential 'shag-ability' - and that is what it is - be a criteria for comparison?!"

The popular actor and Tamgha e Imtiaz recipient went onto add that in today's world, people need to be judged beyond their appearance and these lists should not even exist.

"Judge people on talent, on merit, on intellect, on wit.. but not on physical attributes . Times have changed and these sort of lists should now be confined to history!" Concluded Hayat.
