New weapons for police to keep Balochistan streets safer

Meeting reviews law and order; Langove says provincial govt taking all possible steps to maintain peace

QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove has said the provincial government is taking all possible steps to maintain peace in the province, adding that police and Levies force are being equipped with modern weapons, communications system and latest technology to meet challenges in emergency situations.

Presiding over a meeting on law and order in Kalat the other day, Langove said with the joint efforts of police, Levies and federal force, peace was restored in the province and efforts were underway to improve the situation further.

Kalat Commissioner Hafiz Muhammad Tahir, deputy commissioners of Kalat and Khuzdar, DIG Khuzdar region and other officers concerned attended the meeting.

Briefing the meeting about the law and order situation in Kalat division, Commissioner Muhammad Tahir said that more check-posts of police and Levies had been established to ensure safety of the people travelling on Quetta-Karachi National Highway.

“Patrols by Levies and police have been increased on the highway linking Quetta with Karachi for safe journey of the people,” he said.

The commissioner said doctors and other staff members have strictly been ordered to remain present in hospitals and other health facilities located on the highway, to deal with any emergency in view of increasing road accidents.

Langove said addressing issues of Kalat district and other areas of the division was the top priority of the government. Security of the masses and protection of their property was the responsibility of the provincial government, he said.

The minister said development works were underway in various areas of the province to improve the standard of living of the people.

He said that in different parts of the city provision of water, gas, electricity, installation of new transformers, renovation of school and work of development projects were underway.

The home minister said recruitments in different government departments at the provincial level had begun so that the unemployment issue could be addressed, adding that government would leave no stone unturned in dealing with the issues of the people.

Kalat deputy commissioner Shahak Baloch, SSP Dostain Dashti, XEN B&R Ahmed Nawaz Jamali, XEN Irrigation Sawlim Mohammad, SDO B&R Langove Mohammad Ameen and other officers were also present on the occasion.

Later, representatives of Balochistan Awami Party Kalat chapter met Langove and apprised him about the problems being faced by the people in the division.

Home Minister said that government was fulfiling its promises and besides creating employment opportunities for the youth, provision of all other basic facilities was also ensured.

“The provincial government is taking major steps to ensure development in Balochistan and to remove the sense of deprivation found in the people,” said Langove while meeting with various delegations in his office.

Opposition Leader Malik Sikandar Advocate, Member Provincial Assembly Asghar Tareen, Adviser Excise and Taxation Malik Naeem Bazai were also present.
