Govt approves Rs40b for uplift projects

Provincial ministers, secretaries review 77 schemes related to health, urban planning, education, fisheries and sports

QUETTA: Government of Balochistan has authorised Rs40 billion for ongoing and new development schemes in the second quarter of fiscal year in the province.

Addition Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Abdul Rehman Buzdar briefed Chief Minister Jam Kamal new development schemes and progress on ongoing projects during a meeting held at Chief Minister Secretariat presided by the CM on Monday.

“The government has targeted to complete 344 ongoing development projects in the current year. Moreover, 210 new development schemes have been verified which will be completed in give time,” apprised Buzdar.

Other attendees of the meeting included provincial ministers Zahoor Buledi, Arif Jan Muhammad, Meer Jan Muhammad Lehri and Abdul Khaliq Hazarao along with Parliamentary Secretary Bushra Rind and provincial secretaries.

During the meeting, the provincial ministers and secretaries reviewed 77 schemes related to health, urban planning, education, fisheries and sports. Officials related to Health and Education departments briefed the CM progress on establishment of health centres and new schools in the province.

The CM lauded the performance and progress of all departments in implementing governance in Balochistan.

Criticising previous provincial government for wasting funds at the end of financial year, Kamal said, “Incumbent government has set a new precedent in Balochistan as the officials have authorised funds for implementation of development schemes in the beginning of fiscal year.”

Kamal appreciated efforts of officials to uplift provincial development in the province.

Secretaries also briefed the CM and provincial ministers new projects including sports complex at district level, green boat scheme for fishermen and uplifting tourism in coastal strip.

The officials agreed to release funds timely for completion of development schemes across the provinces. It has also been decided that the contractors and engineers would share development plans before commencing construction work on government schemes.

The CM directed officials of secondary education department to submit recommendations for incentives for teachers ensuring their presence in classes.

Directing the sports official to complete development scheme at Ayuob Sports Complex before 11th National Games, Kamal said, “The officials should ensure timely completion of development schemes without obstacles and delays because the government has committed to provide facilities to masses,” said Kamal.

CS on development projects

Earlier, Balochistan Chief Secretary Fazeel Asghar presided a meeting on development schemes and law and order situation in Naseerabad division during a visit on Monday.

Provincial Secretary Irrigation Ali Akbar Baloch, Agriculture Secretary Qambar Dashti and Services and General Administration Department Secretary Services Dr Saqib accompanied the CS during his visit.

The CS also chaired a meeting to discuss issues of irrigation, water supply, clean drinking water, recovery of taxes, measures takes against land grabbers and mafias, anti-encroachment campaign and recovery of evaded tax from a power plant.

Performance of education and health departments irked the CS. He instructed Naseerabad Commissioner to suggest and bring improvement in the departments for masses.

Naseerabad Deputy Inspector General Shahab Azeem Lehri briefed Asghar law and order situation in the area.

Additionally, the CS inaugurated the Conference Hall and has also planted a tree at Commissioner Office.
