PESHAWAR: The district organization of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) staged a massive protest at Firdous Chowk on Grand Trunk (GT) Road in Peshawar on Monday against the alleged desecration of the Holy Quran in Norway last week.

JUI-F leaders, including Haji Shamsur Rehman, Asif Iqbal, Haji Jaleel, Maulana Ahmed Ali and others strongly condemned the incident and said that it had hurt the sentiments of Muslims around the world.

They added that such incidents become the cause of confrontation and anarchy and even pose a threat to world peace. The speakers clarified that freedom of expression should not mean insulting the holy scriptures or figures of other religions. They demanded that European countries must apologize to Muslims around the world for this shameful act.

They added that the desecration of the Holy Quran will not be tolerated.
