KARACHI:

Awami National Party’s (ANP) Sindh chief Shahi Syed instructed district-level office bearers to cooperate with security agencies, civil society organisations and other political parties in restoring peace.

The orders were delivered during an emergency meeting of ANP district presidents held the Mardan House on Friday.

The presidents told the gathering of the the law and order situation in detail. They also discussed the death of ANP activists, injuries and the loss of property during the recent spate of violence.

Syed appreciated the representatives’ efforts in protecting the property of other ethnicities in Pakhtun-dominated areas.

Syed also asked his party workers to keep an eye on the graveyards and tombs in their respective areas during Shab-e-Barat.

The presidents asked Shahi Syed to extend the last date for party membership, July 15, since the membership drive was affected by the violence in the city.

Syed assured them that he will request the party’s central leadership to extend the date yet new members cannot be inducted after July 15 till the central leadership decides otherwise.

The ANP politician demanded a judicial inquiry into the recent spate of violence and demanded that the government compensate those who lost property in arson.

ANP’s presidents from district east, Muhammad Yunus Buneri, district central, Niaz Muhammad, district south, Iqbal Kakar and district west’s acting president Muhammad Hussain Paracha participated in the meeting.
