Two more polio cases reported in K-P

District-wise breakdown shows that as many as 23 cases have been reported

PESHAWAR: As many as two more cases of polio have been reported from the province in the districts of Lakki Marwat and Bannu, taking the overall total in the country to 91 while the total for K-P rose to 67.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the Polio Emergency Operations Centre in Peshawar on Saturday. It showed that five new cases had been reported, including three from the districts of Karachi, Nawabshah and Jamshoro in Sindh and two from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

A polio official said that the poliovirus has been detected in samples from a three-month-old girl in Serai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat and a 10-month-old boy in Wazir tehsil of Bannu.

A district-wise breakdown shows that as many as 23 cases have been reported from Bannu this year while 17 have been reported from Lakki Marwat.
