CM Mahmood inaugurates NADRA centre in Matta, announces a new university

SWAT: The government on Friday claimed to be working on ‘sustainable’ development in backward districts of the province while investing in the people.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Friday as he inaugurated a National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) registration centres for women in Matta while announcing another centre for Kabal areas of Swat valley.

CM Mahmood and Federal Communication Minister Murad Saeed also inaugurated a Burns, Trauma and Plastic Unit at the Zakir Khan Shaheed Hospital in Swat. The projects are expected to be completed within a year for an estimated cost of Rs90 million. The plastic unit will have a total of 18 beds with separate wards for men, women and children.

Explaining the establishment of the registration centre, Mahmood said that it came about as a result of the desire expressed by locals.

Claiming that promises made by the government are being full filled, Mahmood said that the Mingora hospital has been opened for public and will help improve the provision of health services.

He added that his administration is investing in the people of the province and that they are taking practical and concrete steps to promote tourism in Swat. This move, he said, will not only stabilise the economy but will also provide employment opportunities to the local community.

The chief minister further said that the government is taking pragmatic steps for the development of the province. “We are trying to make sustainable development in all the backward districts of the province,” he said.

Talking about development projects, he said that the Swat Engineering University will be set up over 500 kanals of land in the Kabal area of Swat. Further, projects to build a women’s university and a dental college in Swat have also been approved.

Moreover, he assured that work on the supply of gas to the area is in progress. He further assured that gas will be provided to everyone.
