A senior US government official has said that the meeting between DG ISI and his CIA counterpart went very well and both sides agreed on a number of steps that will improve Pakistan and the United States’ national security.
Another source familiar with the meetings said that they were held in a cordial environment. The source said that the subjects of the meetings included co-operation in intelligence matters, Pakistan's concerns and respect for its limitations.
A senior official at the Pakistani embassy in Washington said the meetings helped stabilise the intelligence partnership between the two countries.
"Both sides were able to agree on the way forward in intelligence," the Pakistani official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
"This visit has put the intelligence component back on track completely."
Pasha made a brief visit to Washington, arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Thursday, to meet with Acting CIA Director Michael Morell and other intelligence officials. Both sides sought to renew ties of cooperation and move forward in an often challenging relationship.

US needs Pakistan in the fight against terror but more than that it needs a base to counter China. They can't trust the hindu baniya nation India. That's the bottom line.
@mirza I agree with what he has written. Pakistan needs to give a number of civilian casualties which US so casually dismisses as 'collateral damage'. We need 2 know how many innocent Pakistanis are dying.
Khuda ka khauf hai bhi Pakistani hakumat ko?
@mind control: LOL !! Why are you winding him up more?? For all that matters , he just may accept it as actual event and part of the deal !!!
@Factcheck.. Pakistan can easily live and progress without aid..Infact aid is a poison for our country..we just have to stop this war on terror..negotiate with taliban..bring peace in the country..half of our resources are being used in this war....and economy has badly damaged due to the terrorist attacks in the country..so its better factcheck that you do same what your nick name says before commenting any thing...Once this war will be over ther wil be no need for aid..
@gm: why Khan should think dear. When US said they are going to stop aid, Indian foreign minister started jumping and applauding the decision. If now aid resumes, we are right to think that this will definitely be a bad news for you all. You people never leave a single chance to realize us that you can never be our good friend even at the level that we can at least maintain with US.
@Khan
That must be a bad news for the Indians.
Considering,
A. US sent Air Fiorce One to receive Gen Pasha.
B. US agreed to unconditionally raise the aid four fold.
C. CIA appointed Pasha as its Chief.
D. US agreed to dismantle/ present all drones to Pakistan.
E.US agreed that Afghanistan will be handed over to Haqqani.
You bet, the Indians are quaking in their shoes.
@Amjad: By the way i am UK National, and my interests here are obvious as to how our financial Aid is being spent, as I am contributing to it as a Taxpayer in UK !!
@Amjad: As I have stated before in the past, don't confuse yourself with words like Obession and Observervation !!! The very reason the Indian are reading the pak media is to understand the Psychology of Pakistan and its people, furthermore to observe as to their progress of demise as being a neighbour of such a Nation can be hazardous to one's health !!! The Pakistan's Misadventurism over past 60 years is on record and hence shows that they need to be monitored as to their activities !!!
Assalam-o-Allaikum Warahmatullah. This is much the best that sell all Pakistan,Pakistan's nation and Pakistani nation's honor,grace,dignity,self-respect,sovereignty and integrity completely instead of selling partially Pakistani corrupt, beggars and slaves leaders including COAS because if there are no honor,grace,dignity,sovereignty,integrity,self-respect and self-reliance then no country and our corrupt, beggars and slaves leaders have already sold Pakistan's and Pakistani nation's honor,grace,dignity,integrity,self-reliance,self-respect and sovereignty to USA against the $$$$$$$$$ and the most importantly the beggars and slaves have bowed down their knees before their worldly master USA and succeeded in their mission of restoration of blocked US aid.
Had Raymond Davis been killed then and there... We wouldn't have been seening this saga......He had loads of inside information, maps & charts which lead up to the abbotabad operation.
@saeed: Pakistan cannot survive without aid, get real. How many Pakistan aid conferences have been there in the past 5 years. Take a count and come back and let us know.
It pays to crawl out from under the rock and see the sunshine ocassinally.
@Hassan Farooqi:
Not one piece of equipment is given to India, ever. India bought C-17 Helrcules heavylift aircraft for the US for ~$ billion in hard cold cash.
India did not even select Lockheed and Boeing in its final round for Muliti-Role combat aircraft. Besides India is developing 5th generation fighter jointly with Russia by funding more than half. India does not want military equipment as aid with conditions which undermines India's sovereignty.
Different league dude.
Aid is forthcoming?
@Hedgefunder: Don't say the Indians could care less. The fact that so many Indians have found a permanent home on Pakistani news sites show how obsessed they are with Pakistan. Indians do care- otherwise you wouldn't be here commenting !!!!
@Hedgefunder: I completely agree with you. ISI was in position but to go ahead with the US demands. However, why all that fuss and talk of delivering "tough" message? If ISI/army was going to agree to the US demands, then why throw a temper tantrum and misinformation? Oh yup, they had to fool the Ghairat Brigade who are still living in fool’s paradise and worship ISI’s bold stands. They don’t seem to understand that beggars cannot be the choosers. They still come up with strange arguments as if it is a business relationship between two “equals”. Thanks and regards, Mirza
Thank God, everything is normal now. Americans must have been too scared of Pakistani Generals wrath.
@fareed: Don't be naive. Army has taken full control of foreign policy. In the first year or so, Zardari tried to take some independnt foreign policy decisions but was quickly put in his place by the army.
In no true democracy do visting dignitaries meet the chief of armed forces even when they do not meet PM/President.
I love these phoney Indian names here with their obvious biases. I hope you guys post on their sites as well?!
@satyram: Pakistan has not, and can not use American aid against India. Even sophisticated equipment purchased from Pakistani money can not used against India. On the other hand there is no such limitations on India. All the equipment given to India in the name of cold war against China in 1962, was used against Pakistan in 1965.
@satyram: be a bit polite. If you have any problem with any single comment dont try to disgrace the whole Pakistan.
Why?@Khan:
@ Khan: I disagree. Like all the freedom loving people India is very pleased at this development. That's quite an accomplishment for the Pakistan Army. After Musharraf's insane policies the Pak Army is finally shaping up. It has gotten most of the political parties supporting it, surprisingly even PPP and MQMs are diehard supporters now. PMLQ and JUI F, and even Bacha Khan's ANP were already solid supporters. Imran Khan and PML F were totally behind the Army from their inception. With solid political backing and well thought out policies Gen. Kyani has been instrumental in paving the relationship with the Americans on solid grounds. It is a victory of the free world against the terrorists and extremists.
@nadeem yousaf:
So, if the Pakistan govenrment institutes such a policy, you will become a CIA informant, get caught and dropped off at DC. You always wanted to emigrate to US and couldn't.
Smart and ingenious plan Dude.
Only if the napak fauj can learn from afghan resistance who have defeated two superpowers in 30 years...
You dont visit countries which attack you..you give them a befitting reply..but I forgot we have real estate armed forces which conquers its own land and kills its own people...
Lies. I dont believe it. If the relations have improved so much then does that mean an end to the drone strikes?
Secondly are we going to Get Dr. Afia back
Thirdly Will US apologize for violating Pakistan airspace
Fourthly when will Gawadar be given to Chinese?
Will US vacate Shamsi air base?
I think Pakistan's arm has been twisted beyond comprehension and a cover up of a patch up has been written.
Things are a lot worse in muy opinon but time will only tell.
India's response to Mumbai terror attacks have also twisted Pakistan establishment's arm. Perhaps there was a threat of an all out war on Pakistan.
Lets wait and see.
Complete unconditional surrender .
The defiance did not last 72 hours after US "paused" military aid.
Rest assured this time Pakistan has not agreed to everything which US has been demanding. US needs Pakistan more than what Pakistan needs US. It is only the question of being steadfast on the negotiations table. Pakistan has told US that they could not be given totally free hand to do whatever they want to do in Pakistan. For future the rules of the game will be rewritten keeping Pakistan's sensitivities in view. Pakistan has not asked for resumption of Military aid. In any case Pakistan Army had already requested the Federal Government to divert the military aid for civil development works.
@Satyaram....Its high time that you people stop crying about aid being used against inda...what you think it will cost ISI to conspire any terrorist attack agasint india if they want to..millions of dollers??? come out of this juvenile intelletualisam.....Actually you are worried that this aid might be used by Pak army to strengthen there infrastructure and capabilites which is direct threat to india if in future there is any trouble in between....only a stupid and fool can think that if ISI want to do any adventurisam agaisnt india they need american aid....it can be done very well without that alsoo..so dont continue to be cry baby..I am against any kind of aid...we should just stop this war on terror and as America has engaged taliban in afghansitan we should also do the same and just finish this never ending terrorisam in pakistan.
@Mirza: Did Pasha have any choice??? I Beg to Differ !! As much as all the BS, that local Media and the ISPR may put out, the fact remains that Pakistan can simply not afford to upset this relationship, as their very survival is on line, in event they even considered it. So much for their Ghairat and all the rest of BS, they tell their people !!!
@Khan: The Indians could'nt care less!! They are quite contended to play the role of spectators at present. They already have an long term Strategy and policies in place, unlike Pakistan, which simply makes policy on day to day basis from what i can see!!! There is no long term view taken into consideration, in pakistan as they really do not know as to what the future really holds for them, Economically, Socially or Politically !!! One may class that as very fragile and uncertain future !!! Now that's what you really should be concerned about, not Indians as they know that they are aiming to maintain 8-9% Growth Levels and equally to work towards eradicating Poverty and various other Programmes over next decade!!!!! This Indian Phobia is going to be your downfall !!!
Pakistani Embassy in US always try to prove the visit of every Pakistai official "successful"
Despite public statements to the contrary, the suspension of the US military aid was taken too seriously. It had hit directly the lavish life style of the generals, and a reach out effort was ordered by the Corps Commanders.
America is going to judge Pakistan based on actions not words --- should have saved the money and stayed home.
Since the meeting went extremely well for the US, be prepared for (1) all visa-applicants will be "security cleared", (2) CIA handlers will be back, (3) Shamsi airbase will go full throttle, (4) boots on ground is permitted, (5) strategic assets will be diluted, and (5) to the dismay of ISI networks operating under its nose will be dismantled.
If only for once Pakistan could really come through on their ghairat and bravado. After all, $800M and other billions - all free, they cannot do without. Those grand statements of going it all alone by the Pindi supremos amounted to nada! Lasted all but less then a week! Their spy master in effect agreed to everything that the boss dictated. Folks that is always the realtionship between the landlord and the renter.
This is an odd couple - in a dysfunctional relationship of addicts. Neither likes the other but is addicted to the other. The people of Pakistan would love to terminate their relationship with the USA (they hate it enough). But leaders of both countries are addicted to a cocktail of interventions, control, deceit and fooling each other and the world. One is fighting wars - cold and hot, real and imagined; the other is creating terror for advantages of "strategic depth" and attaining glory of an era gone by. One is the grand master, the other an opportunistic puppet. For their addiction the innocent American, Pakistani and Afghani must sacrifice their present and future - in blood and opportunity.
50% of US demands US made us agree to, remainig 50% of their demands we agreed to ourselves. All in all it went very well.
Those individuals who had cooperated with CIA in the past are traitors. They have committed a henious crime against the people of Pakistan. They should not be allowed to go unpunished. Secondly, even if the ISI has decided to once again cooperate with US, Pakistan should not ask for the restoration of US aid. Pakistan must keep its options open and conduct the war on terror in accordance with its own national priorities.
I think all the CIA local operatives along with their families be loaded in a plane and dropped off at their dreamland. If Americans are so much concerned they should take all these traitors and make them their own citizens. I would suggest to the government to make it a standard procedure that people of this ilk once caught should be dropped off at Washington or New York. Moreover, all journalists working for USA and media conglomerates being overtly and overtly funded by USA should also be kept under watch and if found working against Pakistan, should be send to their dream land. USA should gladly accept these ass ets!
hahaha so many Indians here on the defensive after just one post by Khan :d
@saeed:...Please don't assume I share your prejudice and Yeah, let us not jump to any conclusion and we should wait and watch. My reply was to Mr. Khan because the way you people think about India, we also have every right to think in similar way. We are not against civilian assistance to pakistan by US but we are against the military Aids in the name of war against terror which pakistan have used against India.
@Patriot: Pasha has nothing to do with drone attack in case you are forgetting you have Democracy now and its up to zardari Gillani Parliment to stop not pasha as long you have these american slaves you will have drones killing innocent pakistanis
@Satyram..What about if America releases this aid after this meeting..that means kay America nay bhi "thooook ker chataaa"..First they stopped the aid..when pakistan told them that we will take our army out of the west border..they agreed to this meeting..so why dont say same to america..I will tell you why becuase this is the mentality and nature of you people against pakistan..even from the news of goodwill to pakistan you will find some thing out if to to ridicule pakistanis and make fun of that..not a shock at all we all know you intentions..how pitty....
@Khan
Expect more embarrassments for Pakistan in the coming days. Then Indians will have the final laugh.
@Khan: Why should it worry Indians? Indians were never friends with Americans since independance anyway!
@Khan: Actually, the Americans said said talks went well . Which means that that Americans got what they wanted ... US and Pakistan have been uneasy allies for decades... it has made very liitle difference to India's progress and growth but this 'friendship' has caused enormous turmoil and problems in Pakistan (not to mention drone attacks, Abbotobad raid).
Do you really think this is 'friendship' ?
so the drone strikes won't stop...innocents will be murdered...slavery will continue...fight will continue in tribal areas....Pakistan will burn...and dollars will rain upon a few!
soorryy for the typo ... Nation ...
Stop lying to yourself and the naion !!!
@Khan no man, think before jumping, don't be silly.
@Khan: No, Mr. Khan. In hindi there is a proverb 'thookkar chaatnaa'. That's what exactly pakistan is doing now after US suspended military aid.
Congratulations for a successful trip Mr. Pasha: No more Drone attacks I am sure
ISI chief'' US visit 'bent very well'
So we ready to lick their feet again? Boy, Aren't we excited to do the licking. Go honorable Pak(not any more)-istan!
Trying to give an impression that everything went well says it all.... solution to these problems lies in development of profound long term strategy based on the principle of protection of future of Pakistan and prosperity of its people in relation to the Pak/US partnership. This should be regardless of pressures of short term political or economic gains of certain institutions or groups within the state of Pakistan.
We demand that real outcome of this meeting should be made public.
"A senior US government official has said that the meeting between DG ISI and his CIA counterpart went very well"
If the US officials are happy that means all the people who cooperated with the CIA in Pakistan are going to be released. Thank God we have made Americans happy. Mission accomplished with tough statements!
That must be a bad news for the Indians.
