KARACHI: The Centre and the provinces are making joint efforts to eradicate polio from Pakistan, said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza on Friday, during a visit to Gadap with Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Haleem Adil Sheikh.
The PM's special assistant said that the workers of the Sindh health department would make Pakistan a polio-free country. He met the families of polio workers who were killed on duty and offered his condolences. "Polio workers are the real heroes. They are the backbone on which the polio programme stands," he said.
"We will eradicate polio from Pakistan under Prime Minister Imran Khan's leadership," said the PM's special assistant, adding that a good sewerage system and the provision of clean drinking water were necessary for the elimination of polio.
