QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has vowed that the vacant posts in the education department would be filled on merit and that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) has been directed to ascertain irregularities in the recruitment process being carried out in the secondary education department.

Addressing the assembly floor, Kamal said, “Opposition should keep calm as the incumbent government will start implementation on CMIT report. The government will never tolerate any wrongdoing in the hiring process in the education department.”

He further said, “I have also directed the CMIT to identify flaws in recruitment process and devise a mechanism. The provincial government has been fostering transparency and reforms in Balochistan.  Indeed there will be flaws and mistakes, which should be identified by the opposition and that is the beauty of democracy.”

Speaking about the dismissal of a secretary, Kamal remarked it had happened for the first time in the history of Balochistan that a sitting bureaucrat had been dismissed from his post and this showed the alertness of CMIT.

“If a person believes that he is being victimised or the government is committing injustice against him, he can knock the doors of the court because CMIT only takes action after collecting solid evidence.”

He said that strict action will be taken against those officials who recruit persons without taking their tests and interviews and added that there were complaints regarding the verification of papers.

The chief minister maintained that 13,000 to 15,000 individuals had been appointed in the government department and secretaries directed to visit the test centres.

Commenting on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Azadi March after the assembly proceedings, Kamal noted that it was an inappropriate way of protest and the provincial government would not allow anyone to disturb the lives of people.

Replying to a query regarding a no-confidence motion against National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, Balochistan CM expressed optimism that the move would be defeated as the government’s number game was complete.

CM lauds PAF services

Chief Minister Kamal on Wednesday praised the services of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) as he discussed measures to make the security arrangements more effective for CPEC projects.

During his meeting with Deputy Chief of Air Staff Administration Air Marshal Jawad Saeed, Kamal said Pakistan Air Force has rendered great services for the nation, as it continues to play a key role in protecting the aerial frontiers of the country.

Stressing on making security arrangements more constructive for the ongoing development schemes especially under the CPEC mega initiative, Kamal also discussed matters pertaining to education, human resource and skill development in the meeting.

“Balochistan’s resources have all the potential to make the economy stable,” he said.

“We have been earnestly working on clinching the confidence of foreign investors to stabilise the provincial economy and yield more job opportunities for youth,” said Kamal during the meeting.

Balochistan Minister for Defense Production Zubaida Jalal, Minister for Revenue Saleem Khosa, Chief Secretary Balochistan Capt (retd) Fazeel Asghar and secretaries were also present on the occasion.

Kamal added that the government has been focusing on building a provincial human resource following CPEC.
