ISLAMABAD: With the federal capital lacking facilities for cardiac care, the city’s administrators have decided to convert a new building being built at the Capital Hospital into a cardiac centre.

Once complete, the centre will sport facilities for cardio angiogram along with other heart and coronary care services.

The construction of the new block will also see the capacity of the hospital extended by a hundred beds.

The new five-story block of the hospital is expected to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs168 million and will have centralised air-conditioning, generators and other allied facilities.

The additional block will have a cardiac centre of excellence, intensive care units (ICUs), critical care units (CCUs) and other facilities. The project is expected to be completed in 12 months.

To staff the new block, a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the recruitment of staff is expected to be obtained in the next week.
