Caught: Seven accused of street crimes remanded

Four suspects involved in street crimes were placed in physical remand till July 20 on Wednesday.

The suspects, Muhammad Nabi, Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Asif and Chand Masih were brought before the judicial magistrate West, Peer Syed Asadullah Shah Rashidi, after they were nominated in five different FIRs.

They have been charged with police encounters, robberies, kidnapping and possession of illegal weapons. The court handed them over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Sindh police for a week.

The police say that the suspects robbed renowned singer Attaullah Khan Niazi and stole Rs1.9 million along with 816.46 grammes of gold. They were apprehended by the CID police after an encounter near Mauripur on Tuesday. They recovered four pistols, magazines and bullet rounds from them. Seven members of their group, however, managed to escape.

The same court also remanded three alleged robbers who were arrested by the Site-A police after an encounter on Tuesday.

Muhammad Riaz and Muhammad Shahzad were produced in court but the third suspect, Ahsanullah, is in the hospital with a gunshot wound. They were accused of attempted murder, police encounters, robberies and the possession of weapons. The court handed them over to the police in physical remand till July 18.
