JACOBABAD: At least four newborns have died at a hospital in Jacobabad due to a shortage of oxygen in incubators.

The medical facility, in the Thal tehsil of the district, witnessed a protest from the family members of the deceased children and held the hospital's staff responsible for negligence.

They also demanded that legal action should be taken against the administration of the medical facility.

The hospital administration claimed that after one oxygen cylinder finished, the children were shifted to another cylinder and during that time, the newborns stopped breathing.

Baby dies before birth due to doctor’s negligence in Rahim Yar Khan

Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali Qadri took notice of the incident and sealed the facility. An investigation into the incident was also ordered.

Earlier this year, a baby died before birth after a lady doctor administered the wrong medication to a woman at a private clinic in Rahim Yar Khan’s Jamal Din Wali area.

Rab Nawaz, a resident of Moza Rangpur Sadat said that the lady doctor treated his wife and put her on a drip. Rab Nawaz mentioned the doctor also gave his wife some medicines. However, after consuming them, her condition rapidly deteriorated.

The man pointed out he immediately took her to the hospital where the doctors conducted an operation. However, the child died before being born, he lamented.
