Four new cells for dengue patients

Each cell would conduct a different operation to combat the dengue epidemic

RAWALPINDI: The government has formed four new special cells for the facilitation of dengue patients in the garrison city.

Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Muhammad Umar said that these cells would conduct different operations including beds management in allied hospitals, monitoring of media cell, arrangements of accommodation for medical teams and data collection of dengue infected patients.

Officials said that separate focal persons have been appointed for each cell. An official notification said Prof Rai Asghar will oversee the Beds Management Cell and will be responsible for bed distribution in allied hospitals. Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Rafiq Ahmed and Deputy MS Dr Muhammad Naeem will be responsible for boarding and lodging teams of specialised healthcare department and Punjab Medical Education deployed for dengue control.
