KARACHI:

The provincial government was restrained from appointing people to the vacancies of Deputy District Officers (DDOs) and Section Officers (SOs) for a week.

The order came during the hearing of a constitutional petition filed by Mukhtiyar Ali, Nauroz Khan and 50 other candidates who were declared fit for appointment but whose appointment letters and posting orders were being delayed for no reason.

The petitioners cited the chief secretary, secretary for the services and general administration, and the secretary for the Sindh Public Service Commission as respondents. They maintained that they appeared in tests and interviews and were even cleared for the jobs but their appointments were delayed inordinately as the chief minister needs to sign off on them.

The bench put off the proceedings for want of time, restrained the provincial government from making any appointment to the post of DDOs and SOs for a week.
