Power Theft: Meter seized in raid, accused flees

GUJRANWALA: A Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) and police team on Monday raided the house of Malik Ramzan, a resident of Shalimar Town, defaulter of Rs41 million arrears. They seized electricity meters and cables he was using to steal power from main line. The accused and his accomplices managed to escape before the team raided the house. GEPCO officials said Ramzan was stealing electricity for several months. They said they had launched a crackdown on power pilferers and that no one found guilty would be spared.
