KARACHI: The federal government’s constant reluctance over the revival of Karachi Circular Railway project is highly condemnable, said Sindh Minister for Information and Archives Saeed Ghani. Talking to reporters on Monday, he said that it was the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government that incorporated KCR project into the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project (CPEC). The provincial minister said that despite getting votes from the people of Karachi, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government did nothing for them after coming to power. Opposition Leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi had proposed in the Sindh Assembly that the provincial government of PPP should write a letter to the federal government regarding the KCR project. In response, Ghani clarified that in total 14, while to the incumbent PTI government four letters, had been written regarding the restoration of KCR. However, to date no concrete steps had been taken about the revival of the project, he added. The provincial minister said that it was extremely deplorable that Prime Minister Imran Khan was visiting China but his priorities did not include KCR, adding that the chief minister had written directly to the prime minister, in this regard.
