The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday predicted more rain with chances of thunderstorms in Karachi over the next three days.

With the arrival of a westerly system on Thursday, the PMD added that thundershowers are likely to lash different localities of the port city, with the system dissipating by late Sunday.

"Thundershowers are expected to continue for the next three days in the city," said PMD's Sardar Sarfaraz.

More rain expected in Karachi on Tuesday

In September, the port city received heavy to moderate rains in several spells, major thoroughfares of the city were choked as the drainage system failed and long power outages were reported.

Rainwater mixed with sewerage accumulated on roads leading to extremely poor conditions. Several low-lying areas of the city were also inundated.

The rains also has left major thoroughfares of the city as well as smaller roads in various localities in a dilapidated condition with potholes and craters.
