KARACHI: The body of a woman was found from a house in Machar Colony, located in the jurisdiction of Docks Police Station, on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Sameera, was tortured and then strangled to death. On being informed, a police team reached the spot and took the body into custody. The body was shifted to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. According to Docks SHO Aslam Jutt, Samreen was killed by her husband, Zahid Hussain, who escaped after murdering her. She has left behind a five-year-old daughter, he said. Jutt said that Sameera and Zahid used to have arguments frequently and the deceased went to her parents’ house after the last argument she had with her husband. Later, Hussain went to her parents’ house where they had another argument, following which, he strangled her to death, he added. According to Jutt, Hussain is part of a launch’s crew and a case against him has been registered on behalf of Sameera’s mother.
