When a fire broke out at a building in Chiniot, the district administration called the rescue service in Rabwah for help.
The irony that the Chiniot building was owned by a member of the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat movement is not lost to Rabwah’s rescue services. A former tae kwon do instructor with the Pakistan Army, Nadir Saidain says the fire service was started because the district administration refused to assist in rescue operations in Rabwah town.
The service, like many others in the area – such as a 200-bed guest house - is free. Other facilities, including a sports centre and swimming pool, are heavily subsidised.
Despite the ostracism of Ahmadis in mainstream society, the community’s facilities draw people of all faiths to Rabwah.
The gleaming 80-bed Tahir Heart Institute is one example. Over 80 per cent of its patients are not Ahmadis. Its head, Dr MMH Nuuri, says the hospital does not have any discriminatory policies. Admission forms do not ask for the patient’s religion, and preaching in the premises is not allowed.
Up to 300 people are treated daily, many of whom hide details of their visits. According to Dr Nuuri, “I overheard a patient talking on the phone and telling someone he was under treatment in Sargodha. The patient later said, ‘Sorry doctor, but if people know I am in Rabwah I will not be spared.’”
Treatment is free, but those who can afford it contribute towards the cost. Referrals come in from cardiologists across Pakistan, and it has attracted doctors from abroad to practice for short stints.
“Our doctors have to be committed towards their profession,” Dr Nuuri said. “Our philosophy is that the patient is always right and doctors have to abide by their wishes.”
The hospital is one of many in Pakistan built by the Ahmadiyya community. Healthcare, along with other areas that would normally be the domain of the district’s administration – such as security and sanitation – are all managed by the community, since the administration is lax in its duties.
Reminders of the government’s negligence are visible all over Rabwah. The community’s schools, which were nationalised in the 1970s, were never returned. Tahir Ahmad, who handles education projects, maintains a list of government officials he has met since 1996 to lobby for the return of the schools to the community’s control. Despite complying with the government’s requirement to deposit an amount comprising fees and schools’ staff allowances for six months to one year, the government refuses to denationalise the schools, citing “law and order” as a reason.
Ahmad recalls a conversation with then-outgoing Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool. “Young man, you are an Ahmadi,” Rasool reportedly said. “You are not going to get these schools back.”
The community has built new schools and provides scholarships and soft loans. As a result, Rabwah reportedly has a literacy rate of over 90 per cent. One such school - with a modern lab, well-stocked library and spacious classrooms – charges a monthly fee of Rs25.
The schools provide a safe environment for students who would be harassed elsewhere. Young graduates told The Express Tribune about being shunned for their faith or told to ‘join the right way’. One student who was asked to leave his hostel because of his faith has not recovered from the incident as yet, and is reluctant to complete his education.
Even though Ahmadi families were discriminated against during last year’s floods, the community has provided housing and aid to families – irrespective of their beliefs - in flood-affected areas. “We were taking relief goods to Rajanpur once,” recalls a representative. “We were stopped on the way and asked, “You are taking relief goods to Ahmadis? Don’t you know they are non-believers?”

@Dr Inam: can u tell me any other charitable cardiology hospital ran by Qadianis? bro! it is not issue? Jews can run more sophisticated and modern cardiology hospital than this one? the problem you people doing is that you are linking charity hospital with religion. And proving that your religion is better. this is not the matter. i can give you details other hospitals run by muslims. and huge donations given by Muslims to cardiology hospitals in all over pakistan.
@Mohammad Awais: How many Charitable heart institutes are working in Pakistan? Can you give us detailed figures. The only point the author is making that Majority Muslims and the Government has made life hell for Ahmadies but see what they are doing in return. Christian Missionaries who use to do charitable work in Pakistan have already stopped doing so but Bravo to Ahmadies they still have the heart for their fellow citizens inspite of a naked sword on their head.
Hi Saba weldon ,you have done a good job.
Respected Manada Saba Imtiaz, You have the courage to speak truth. May you live very healthy and wealthy long long life. Pakistan really need people like you who they can speak truth. Love for all. Hatred for none. Humanity comes first. GOD bless you.

Thanks & Regards, Mirza Mubashir Ahmad Allah Hafiz
Helping Other people without taking care of their religion or sect is indeed a true practice of Islam.It is a fair example that who is following the true teachings of Islam and who are just using the logo of islam.
Surprised !! True journalism is not vanished yet.. ET and Reporter of this story has shown that they believe in free media and Prosper Pakistan. We as a Nation-State should Thank Ahmadis as we killed them , we call them non-Muslims , we boycott them , we persecute and torcher them morally , physically and as well as socially but still they love Pakistan , they are building Pakistan and serving Humanity . Its example is Humanity first , Just visit Humanityfirst.org you'll understand.
very nice article, we are happy to see someone's writing for ahmadi's.
this is great... excellent stuff

Every single with wisdom can easily understand that you just wanted to convey a disgraceful remark so you made it by yourself ...pity on these minds..:)Blockquote
I hope everyone knows how the missionaries worked in china and the subcontinent. By whatever means ahmadies are trying to impress the poor people of this country is a routine practice in the west and other developed countries. That does not mean they have all become muslims.
jazakalah you have done a great and bravery effort ..it s not easy here to jot down about ahmadis.. may allah bless you and your team for this
Dear Mrs Saba imtiaz salam alaikum and thankyou very much for showing the deeds of those people who in this modern age of hatred are practicing the true Islam "The irony that the Chiniot building was owned by a member of the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat movement is not lost to Rabwah’s rescue services." shows who is acting on the true Islam and who is not of course. Ahmadies even help those who hate the Ahmadies is it not Islams teachings and what is being done in response to the Ahmadies is shown in this "the fire service was started because the district administration refused to assist in rescue operations in Rabwah town" "“We were stopped on the way and asked, “You are taking relief goods to Ahmadis? Don’t you know they are non-believers?”" Ahmadyyat zindabad

Saba! May Allah Bless you and give you strength of character to publicize truth as you already have. Jazakallah
May they continue this work with this spirit in the future!!
Thanks to Saba who dared to brought out the reality of Ahmadis. This story has proved that Ahmadis are true followers of Islam because Islam teaches us about humanity and their rights, no matter whom they worship or whom they follow.
Ahmadi Muslims believe in Muhummad SAW being the messenger of God’s & always live their life in the light of given motto of Hadrat Mirza Nasir Ahmed Sb. LOVE FOR ALL HATRED FOR NONE.
THNX & JAZAKALLAH Saba
AOA, i was reading a comment above in which a man was asking Saba why he has chosen Rabwah's Hospital , Something is very special for this area. in a small town of Rabwah . Such type of hospital , institutes , Free Eye Transplant center , Free Blood Bank , Free Fire Fighting org , International Standard Swimming pool , two of the biggest mosques of the country , free multi- story guest houses and so many such type of buildings in a 24 sq. km area with the population of 70,000 people. isnt that Amazing... . Well done Saba Imtiaz ... really appreciate your article
@ Mohammad Awais Dear Mohammad Awais I just wanted to share the following quote with you Martin Luther King said “Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man’s sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true.” And as we saw that in your case instead of appreciating the writer you started criticizing the author that why she chose to write about a hospital run by Ahmadi Muslims. And your subsequent comments suggesting "motive of the reporter" also tell us that your hate is making you do what Martin Luther King is saying above.
@ Mohammad Awais Dear Mohammad Awais, you wrote about changing of debate from charity hospital to religion. Actually every one was talking about charity and then comes along you unfortunately "full of hate" and start criticizing the author that why she did not write about all the other charity hospitals in her blog. And again as I said before I do not blame you for this hatred you have for your fellow Ahmadi Muslims, this hatred is because of those twisted out of context material and lies you have read on the anti-ahmadiyya websites and the hate which has been infused in you over the years by many of our semi-literate Ulema-e-Soo.
Thanks Saba Imtiaz For That .
The story filed July 11 is still getting comments even after a week. One thing is very clear now that the introduction of a charity hospital has triggered debate on religion. Perhaps that was the motive of the reporter. if we only focus on the charity, it will be good and it will create healthy results.
@ Waseem
You are speaking out of ignorance or spite....if not both..All Muslims are awaiting the Imam Mahdi(as). This is a very fundamental belief and important tenet of Islam....Now by virtue of his status...the Mahdi (or the guided one)...will be guided and helped in his Immense mission by Allah(swt) via true visions and revelations to carry out his mission...now you can call him whatever you like..but that definitely makes him a prophet.....and we Ahmadi Muslims believe that awaited one the Promised Mahdi and Messiah has already come in the form of Hzt. Ahmad(as).....While the rest of the people including you are probably till awaiting for someone to come...that is the fundamental difference between us.....Alhamdolillah we are on the perfectly right way....
@Ali.
You are proved to be a totally mis guided and betrayed person who just tries to propagate his wrong footed point of view based on false teachings and bigotred concepts about religion. Your provoking question about "Who made judge and jury to come to a conclusion about Musim and Disbeliever is undoubtedly , The Devine book of Allah followed by Teaching of Islam and belief about the basics which are quite clear in content."
Look , if a person claims to be a Muslim , then he is Simply a Muslim with any false addition who believes in Oneness of Allah and Muhammad as last prophet with not a single prophecy follower after him"
Now u tend to believe in this Doctrine of Oneness of Allah and Muhammad as the Last prophet of Allah, then why you call yourself a wrong addition of Term "Ahmadiya Muslim"???
So on this radical ground, you alike communit people are betrayed and misguided one's who need to get directed on right way to refrain you from your tempted belief.
For false belief, this life is too long and humans have too short time span to follow the right path..!!
good job Saba and ET!
Dont give up on the effort!
Writer has added another useful article to its growing list. Keep it up.
The promised reformer of Islam, son of the prophet Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and second Khalifa Mirza Mahmood Ahmad instructed his followers to only have relations with non ahmadi so called Muslims that they can have with Christians, Jews and. other people of the book. He informed his followers that these were the teachings of their prophet Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. I. am not aware that this has changed or can change without the advent of a new prophet. Therefore there is nothing wrong with ahmadis not praying in the vicinity of non ahmadis. Main stream Muslims should treat ahmadis as another non Muslims group. With utmost respect but realise we are different religions.
Good work Saba!! a true example of GOD HELP THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES! People who donot have firm faith, are sinful and only follow those teachings of Islam which they find easy has no rite to say any ahmadi as a non muslim and should be persecuted!!
well done Saba, all together we can built our beloved country Pakistan. Longlive Pakistan Longlive Rabwah
@ Mohammed Awais: The credibility towards the impartiality of your observation comes from your description of Ahmadis as "Qadianis".
@ Waseem: Who made you judge and jury, what God ordained right do you have to call someone a disbeliever if he/she calls himself a Muslim. I believe in the oneness of God, I believe in Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) being Khatam-un-Nabieen and I am an Ahmadi Muslim. No constitution, no clause can make me disbeliever.
@My Name is Khan: i think your arguement is very typical. i with my practising Muslim family has lived for over two decades near a chiristain colonoy and two large families of Qadianis in Wazirabad. we had close links with them. we used to go to schools and colleges with them. we used exchange greetings on festivals and weddings of each other. it is reality. come with me and we will go to wazirabad and you will see how i and my family have links with them. so minorities are very safe in pakistan. however, there are some people who make trouble for their nafarious designs and personal agendas. as you and the peope like u have disliking about Muslim majority (may be for some personal agenda or thinking), there are a few people having no support of majority in Muslim majority who create trouble. if you are pakistani, please do not speak language of foreign media blindly. be rational/
@ Ali - your statement implies that you'd like Ahmadis to be treated like 3rd class citizens as that's how we Pakistanis treat all minorities. Ahmadis and all minorities should be treated like regular citizens. Admittedly, Pakistan treats its people pretty badly if they aren't in the Army, or ISI, or members of Parliament or feudal landowners, but at least give them the same treatment as the rest of us.
@ Mohammad Awais - your argument is so typical. These minorities are treated like crap. Hindu and Sikh marriages aren't recognized. Churches are burned down. They need the visibility so that their situation can be improved. Otherwise, we are all culpable for what happens to them.
Have you ever seen the population data on how the general Pakistan population grows very quickly but Christians and Hindus continue to shrink in number? Ever wonder what's happening to them? They are being killed, they are being forcefully converted (or they convert out of fear, not out of love), they are raped, they are forced to leave.
Love for Humanity crosses all religious boundries and this is what the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) taught. We must focus on prayers and peace. These two words can be the focal point of a very happy life be one Ahmadi, Sunni.,Shia, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, etc etc.
The artcile i feel summarises a love for humanity and a love for the simple ideals of ensuring that we live our lives without discrimination and are always first to help humanity be them of any faith, colour or creed.
This Article opened my eyes. Humanity has no religion. The Irony that Khatam e Nabuwat Office themselves requested for their services. I hope these acts of Kindness open their eyes, And we start acting as a mature nation. This is the Time to stop hating on the basis of race and Religion. This is the first Time i read this newspaper and i must say Hats Off!
Based on All the on going discussion as above:
Express Tribune is highlighting this aspect of Ahmedis on a paid campaign to promote the soft hearted portrait of this minority,On issue at all on Humanitarian grounds but:
" on Simple Grounds, For any Human Being to Be called a Muslim, He / She must have a firm Belief on the sacred base reality that Muhammad (S.A.W.W) is the last prophet of Allah and prophethood has been completed in Universe."
So Whosoever have this belief on Oneness of Allah and Muhammad (S.A.W.W) as the Last Prophet of Allah is known to be a Muslim and else 's are minorities whether they accept or not this fact.
"May Allah Show All such people the right path and bestow upon them guidance before its too late for them to seek salvation"
Ahmadi Muslims believe in Muhummad SAW being the messenger of God's will........this story proves that. I pray for those people who violently oppose us.(ie.Khatmenabuwat Hate Group).
I wish I could some day return to the land of my parents and serve (in Tahir Hospital) those that drove my parents out. That would be the ultimate revenge for me on the transgressors in Pakistan.
Ahmadis are true Muslims. They are not hypocrites. They love mankind and believe in service to mankind is service to God...at the same time they are not hypocrites to pray behind a Non-Ahmadi Imam...they never believe in pleasing somebody...they are following religious rules...and they are firm on that.....love...service to mankind...charitable works..are different...and religious obligations are different...do not mix-up...Ahmadis may not pray behind a Non-Ahmadi Imam..but It does not mean that they do not love and serve Non-Ahmadi Muslims....This is the reason that Edhi foundation has received the Ahmadiyya Peace Award this year...
i read the article and also most of the comments...some things crossed my mind, and i would like to share them with all of u dear readers.
That socially informative articles are being published in the newspapers, people must read things, i am certain that many readers read it and got to know some new things. Secondly i would encourage the writer to write about many other common issues too..which are ignored but they have big impact on our daily life attitudes.
Can any one answer me why we do not care about religion when we go abroad ???? Here in Pakistan we may not like to sit and eat with an Ahmadi or a christen but why do we suddenly like the GORI in foreign countries??? Why do we call christens here in Pakistan and tell them our Muslim name to buy Alcohol from them ?????? Why do we go and get good education from christen or Jews or sometimes atheist teachers and then boost upon the degrees we achieve from there ???? I think we all are hypocrites !!!!
I am not an Ahmadi but let me say it bluntly.....we do we moan if they are doing something good,if they are trying to be self sufficient as they are sick and tired of some religiously foolish personalities????? If our MUSLIM government cannot help even us, then why we act so surprised if some minority is breaking the chain and atleast doing something on its own.....i think they are educating them selves, their young one who may bring something good to a chunk of this lame society......what we are doing ????? Just criticizing them? what else we typical Pakistanis can do ???? Who cares you are a Shia or a Sunni or whatever ??? Is it written on our faces ??? I respect humanity and i believe in it....if i have 100 friends i never asked any one of them that who are you, i am friends with them because they are good human beings......i think this is education, this is exposure, this is enlightenment, by just copying western culture we cannot claim that we are being modernized....this would be the best progress according to my point of view.
I believe our Media, and all the bodies who are contributing for the society shall promote such things for our younger generation.....we need it....badly.!!!! We do not need new Mobile Free Call or free SMS packages but we need this exposure,Our Prophet Muhammad PBUH taught us this.....non believers threw stones on Him but he gave us the example of tolerance. Allah says in Quran, do not say bad words to others' Gods as they will do the same to your Allah..
I pray may Allah bless us all, and keep enlightening our hearts, help us to be what we are, Humans to whom even angels bowed by Allah's command, think about it !!!! Ameen.
Its True very nice .keep it up because journalism is a divine job .so in my opinion every journalist must be honest just like ( Saba Imtiaz) but i don't know WY peoples does not accept the truth. i think in this article writer just shows the efforts of ahmadiyya community because government can not help our community.there is no religious debate so plz do not comment against any religion . if you renumber truth is a crime in our society Former Governor salman taseer is killed only because he speak truth about the law of minority. and also a journalist saleem shezad killed only because he write truth about government .then how a journalist in our society speak or write truth .we are going down and down day by day just because we can not follow real Islamic education .every one like to speak lie .lie is a fashion in our society . most of time peoples said our politicians are not good but we are not good politicians.are also for us . we have to change our minds if other wise one day every thing will be finish so plz think and try do bear truth .
ALL of the above is just politics. if everyone just started following the basics: honesty, tolerance and moderation [just some of the few traits of islam that all sects (ahmedi, sunnis, shiites, wahabis, +++++++++) believe in wholeheartedly] the world would be a safer place. Getting down to technicalities and controversies is just the political and agenda based BS that has been fed to each and every one of us by our own sects. NO ONE can nor will, ever be able to prove their superiority over another sect till judgment day. no amounts of killing or propaganda or a call for sympathy will ever make a muslim from one sect convert to another (except of course some exceptions).
We all believe in one God so we should let that God be the judge of who the better/best sect is on judgment day. That God is the creator of all, including infidels, jews, christians, muslims, buddhists, animals, angels, things to come, things that have been long gone.
why would a Shiite expect a born sunni to convert to shiism? or a born ahmedi to convert to wahabism? and vice versa, For God's sake people, give some heed to history, Jews stop at Moses, they dont recognize any prophet after that, Christians stop at jesus and they will never recognize any prophet after that. sunni's stop at Mohammad (saw) and will never recognize any prophet after that. Shiites ----> Ali , Ahmedis --> Mirza Ghulam.
So please, stop this stupid mumbo jumbo about history that none of you were alive to witness for your selves. Be human first. all these sects can get overly emotional about their own beleifs. Take a step back, Find COMMON GROUND not Differences. and wait for the Day of judgement that we all believe in. Are we going to let God judge anything? or are we going to be the judges?
who's a better person now: those who profess to be good righteous muslims who call shias and ahmadi's kaafirs or these guys who provide people with services like health and rescue services without discrimination based on religion. hypocrites...
@Frank: What does your anecdote has to do with the subject of the write-up???? As a non-Ahmedi, your experience sounds unbelievable to me, based on my extensive interaction with Ahmedis since I was a teenager, but even if it is true, how are you relating an act of handful of people with the whole Ahmadiya community?????
To me what the story depicts is the true Islamic behaviour, actually a truly humanistic behaviour. One may have the right to disagree with the doctrinal beliefs of the Ahmadiya Jamaat but to subject them to any kind of discrimination or hate and victimise them is a base and shameful behaviour. And I am not aghast at the behaviour of the common folks, it is the educated class that surprises me that hold these discriminatory beliefs against Ahmadis or fail to raise their voice against such discrimination.
And Thank You Express Tribune for providing the forum to discuss this issue.
The only two Pakistanis to be bestowed international recognition of the highest order in their respective professions were ahmadis - Dr Abdus Salam the only Pakistani to receive a Nobel prize and the only Pakistani who has had such a massive impact on Physics. 2) Zafarullah Khan, first foreign minister of Pakistan (back when they weren't prohibited to reach such important positions), Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN, President of the UN General Assembly, President of the International Court of Justice. Yet we fail to recognize these people as heroes and inspire people to reach the same heights.
@"Frankk"
You have an odd habit of turning up at "Ahmadi" stories and then you pull out some "story" that is meant to counter the original article by exposing the Ahmadi's.
Let me tell you this, your "story" as well as your name is fake. Prove me wrong by giving factual details that can be verified, last i heard from you, you used to "help" Ahmadi's but somehow they were still masters at getting political asylum.
The plot holes in your "stories" are getting bigger and bigger.
@DrAziz_Wah
Please post a video where you saw Ahmadi's "curse Pakistan and Muslims".
Go to Youtube, find one and then we will see.
@DrAziz_Wah:
Ahmadis have perfect right to raise their voice against their persecution. This is not hate; just a statement of facts. By your standards we should not call a killer, killer otherwise it would be termed as hate. What a joke. Stop persecuting Ahmadis if you feel bad about it. Failing that don’t complain about Kashmir or Palestine as all have the same rights.
@Mohammad Awais:
I don’t know which planet you live on. Ahmadis have perfect right to call themselves Muslim as that is what they believe themselves to be. This is in the ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ to which Pakistan is a signatory. Prohibiting Ahmadis to do so is a violation of their human rights and using force to do so, as in Pakistan, amounts to their persecution. Ahmadis have perfect right to raise voice against their persecution just like Kashmiris and Palestinians have right to raise voice against violation of their human rights, not withstanding what majority in those countries believes or does not believe. Stop considering Ahmadis as your slaves; they do not need your approval to have their human rights. Ahmadis have unalienable rights including freedom of religion; a concept lost on maulanas, who wrongfully consider themselves educated just because they have a degree from somewhere.
@Frank:
How did you feel and why? I am curious. Were the deceased not going to go to heaven without it? Did the Ahmadis say they did not feel sympathies for deceased? So what is the problem? When you force others into your narrow views that you have created yourself (despite wrongfully assuming yourself educated and enlightened) then it is you who are intolerant and not others. On the other hand how many times have you complained of the brutal and official apartheid and persecution against Ahmadis, which is genuine violation of human rights which every person should complain about? Let me know the figure.
As for as sunnis/shias praying behind each other, everyone knows what the established ulema of both sunnis and shias call each other including wajib ul qatl and actually go about killing each other and Ahmadis too. While Ahmadis do not such thing. So your example of sunni/shia harmony is rather faulty and has self serving narrowness. If anyone is in harmony with others that are Ahmadis despite the bitter hostility and persecution by both sunnis and shias. This means one has to find some fault in Ahmadis to cover for one’s own faults and it has to come down to what rituals Ahmadis perform or not (something they have complete right to) as there isn’t anything else to hold against Ahmadis.
Word bigotry comes to mind.
@Dr. Aziz_Wah
Please dont speak white lies....NO TV channel owned by Ahmadis will ever curse Pakistan or Muslims...yes we do speak out against the bigoted leasers or Ulema who are vigorously advocating violence against us...other wise no Ahmadi will ever curse Pakistan or Muslims in general....that is the only truth.
All of you calling Ahmadis bigots, hateful and anti-Pakistan let me remind you Ahmadis have served this country in every field of life. Abdus Salam may I remind you was on Ahmadi and he represented Pakistan when he wore Pakistan's traditional dress while receiving his nobel prize, even then when he came back to Pakistan he could not find a job teaching based solely on his education, so in addition he was told to coach Government College's football team.
Read K.K Aziz's book "Coffee house of Lahore". It has some very interesting facts about some individuals.
@Dr Aziz : What representatives on the TV channels? Ahmadis have been silenced for over 40 years. Last time a representative of the Ja'maat came on television it was on the 28th of May on Mubasher lucman's show, because of threats the show wasn't re-aired plus the youtube channel of express news skips that date, it has no official recording of that show.
As long as Ahmadis remain a peaceful and law-abiding minority, they should be given all their rights. But the problem is their mindset, i mean majority of them. If you see their representative TV channels, they all curse Pakistan and Muslims, while at the same time they portray themselves as they are not hateful and discriminatory. If they leave hypocrisy and instead of insisting to portray themselves as Muslims, start living as minority, there should be no problem for any one. Interestingly it was Bhutto who labelled them as non-Muslims not Zia!
there are many charity hospitals spread all over pakistan that give free-of-cost treatment without asking for any religious affiliation. why the writer has picked this hospital for filing a story? the hidden message being given is that Ahmedis are not non-Muslim. this story seems doing preaching. so raise the issue of minorities without hurting sentiments of majority. in pakistan some so-called liberal raise issues of minorities out of the proportion and they take delight in hurting sentiments of majority.
It wasn't a congregational prayer. It was just a simple dua for the soul of a man who gave his life for the country. The Ahmedis refused to join in because the man who died did not believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmed was a prophet. You can imagine how we all felt. In our office Shia collegues will read juma prayer behind a Sunni imam. Sunni Braelvis will read a juma prayer behind a Shia imam, The only people who will not are Wahabis and Ahmedis. Go figure,
The Ahmadiyya community is a peace-loving community and that is reflected in its efforts to extend help to the people who most need it, be it in Pakistan, African countries, Indonesia or any other natural disaster stricken-country. Islam does not teach us to discriminate and the Ahmadiyya community strongly abides by its motto of LOVE FOR ALL AND HATRED FOR NONE. Unfortunately, Ahmadis are not reciprocated with the same sentiments in their own country, Pakistan. Regardless, we still do and will always continue to stand by the motto of our community as mentioned above.
@Frankk: u r confusing two issues simultaneously! one. that is practicing religion and the other is fulfilling human rights! while fulfiling human rights u will find ahmedi muslims at par compared to any other muslim. practising religion and following islamic laws is obligatory but not forcefull.u believe the way as ur religious heads say,and ahmedis follow as their head says!though they dont create issue but u people do not even allow them to practice their religion freely! consider ur bollywood dialogue again!
Its shameful how much hate we the mainstream community has to these people who are peaceful and get on with their own lives... look they are progressing and doing well and helping the normal Pakistani... what is the sunni-shia mullahs doing expet calling each other kaffir and wajib al katil!
well done to the Ahmadiya community!
@Frankk:
Really how? How many sects read namaz behind others, strictly speaking? Every person is free to perform (or not) what rituals they prefer to perform. This is what's called freedom of religion and practice of faith. A concept that is lost on the real bigots who insist to see others in the boxes that they erect for others, otherwise they are not happy. Sort of jageerdaar mentality treating others as slaves and not free to choose what they are comfortable with. Who is bigot now?
My compliments to Saba and the ET for a very informative piece of article. It is indeed commendable that the Ahmadee Muslims have been trying to serve humanity, without any discrimination, in the face of a surcharged environment, where they are openly targeted and called 'wajibul qatal'. Now, it is for Pakistan's intelligentsia to judge for themselves as to who should be the recipients of Allah's favour - those who serve their fellow citizens without any discrimination or those who instigate people to resort to violence and murders in the name of religion.
Thank you Saba. "The irony that the Chiniot building was owned by a member of the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat movement is not lost to Rabwah’s rescue services. "
This shows a lot. In a selfish world of today no one is willing to help anyone, espacially their enemies. This tells us where the true islam lies.. surely not with khatme nabuwat organization who issued leaflets recently and encouraged people to kill Ahmadis
Rabwah? Hasnt this city been renamed Chenabnagar? They have a lot of hospitals over there doing some good work..... while i dont agree to their religious belief at all, i do believe they should be treated as a minority on an equal basis like other minorities are treated in Pakistan. Its nice to see them fulfilling responsibilities like true Pakistanis. Whatever religion they believe in, they are Pakistanis after all. Religious debates should be limited to debates and pro active actions, not violent actions
Saba Imtiaz
That would make a good line in a Bollywood tea-jerker. Back in the real world the brother of a colleague died fighting the Taliban in South Waziristan. The Ahmedis in our office, however, refused to join in the prayer for him because he was a non-believer in Mirza Ghulam Ahmed. I think this satisfies the Oxford English's definition of bigotry. In the real world, which liberals seem to know hardly anything about, there are often no heroes and no villains. We are all a little bit of both hero and villain.
well done good job Allah bless you
Well done and Long live Rabwah I hope there are more Rabwahs like this in Pakistan
gud job saba, thanx for sharing:)
Thank you Saba for your attempt to bring Ahmadis' stories in mainstream media. They have been shunned long enough and it is time people start seeing them in perspective.
ET deserves a big shout out for its consistent reporting on minorities.
Well done Saba for showing us the beautiful works of this community, I love you for that.
"The true Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands others are safe" [Bukhari] Thanks to Allah first for being always by the side of true believers and then to Saba Imtiaz for giving the true picture of Ahamadyya Jamat and its loyality for Pakitan and its citizens ! May God Bless u Saba Imtiaz !
Minority sects, especially those who belong to revivalist religious groups were persecuted throughout history. Ahmadi Muslims are no exception. Ahmadi fire services operating outside their city, extinguishing fires at the buildings of Khatm-e Nabuwwat; their bitter opponents. If you are a muslim, take yourself back in time by a mellinium and a half and ask yourself a question: Who is following the footsteps of the early Muslims. Please ponder over the outcome!
