Measures will be taken for social, economic protection of women: CM

Social Protection Act has already been approved by the provincial cabinet of Balochistan, says Kamal

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Thursday pledged that every possible measure will be taken for the social and economic protection of women in the province.

A delegation of Women Balochistan led by a chairperson and former minister Shama Parveen Magsi met the Chief Minister and lauded government’s initiatives for women empowerment and development in Balochistan.

Matters related to women welfare were also discussed in the meeting.

Talking to the delegation, Chief Minister Jam Kamal ensured that the provincial government is working on a well-planned strategy to bring a more positive change in the sectors of health, education, human resource, and skills development.

“Social Protection Act has already been approved by the provincial cabinet of Balochistan. Very soon the act will also be approved from the House of Peoples’ Representatives,” the chief minister said. “Balochistan government’s major focus is on youth development. We have increased the annual grant of Polytechnic colleges, residential colleges, and universities.”

Talking to the chief minister, Shamma Parven Magsi stressed upon girls’ education and female mortalities while giving birth in rural Balochistan.

“Provincial government should work for equal development of rural and urban population,” she said.  “Women delegation would support the government.”

Informing about workshops and programmes for girls, Shama Perveen said that training is being given to female participants in the fields of journalism and arts to enhance their capabilities.
