LAHORE:

An air conditioner has finally been installed in the monitoring room at the Sessions Court to make sure the CCTV system at the complex runs smoothly, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Footage from 59 cameras installed in the Sessions Court complex is screened on four LCD screens in the monitoring room. The system is backed up with a UPS of 2,500-volt amperes so it keeps running during power outages.

But this summer, the video feed has repeatedly frozen. Officials had said that this was because there was no ventilation in the monitoring room and it became so hot in there that the equipment did not work properly.

An air conditioner was installed in the room on Saturday to keep the equipment in cooler conditions.

Security has been a major concern for litigants, lawyers and judges in recent weeks after a rash of violent incidents at the city’s courts. Two brothers were gunned down in a courtroom at the Sessions Court six weeks ago.
