Senators and members of the national and provincial assemblies have also been asked to submit the wealth statements of their spouses, children and other dependents.
The ECP will issue the list of those who fail to submit the statements on January 1. Their membership will be suspended on January 16. After that, these parliamentarians will not be able to participate in parliament sessions and the legislation process.
The commission will be taken against those who submit wrong information about their assets.
Election tribunal irked by non-submission of report
According to the details issued by ECP earlier this year, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the richest political party in the country with Rs376.6 million worth of assets.
The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) came second with assets valued at over Rs253 million. The party’s assets witnessed an increase of Rs20 million during the period of one year.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stood at number three in terms of assets value. The total assets owned by the Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led party were valued at Rs167 million.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan owned properties worth Rs2.37 billion along with 35 tolas of gold, making him the richest lawmaker in the country.
PTI’s Aleem Khan was the richest Punjab Assembly lawmaker with assets worth over Rs1.65 billion.
Azam Swati, who also belongs to the PTI, was the richest senator in the country with assets worth over Rs1.85 billion.
