‘Admission to colleges will be on merit’

The secretary claimed that all admissions to medical colleges will be done on open merit

LAHORE: Efforts are being made to improve the quality of education in medical colleges, said Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Secretary Momin Agha. He stated this while addressing a meeting to review admission procedures in MBBS and BDS programmes in medical colleges on Saturday. The secretary claimed that all admissions to medical colleges will be done on open merit. Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Amir Zaman Khan, King Edward Medical University VC Dr Javed Masood Gondal, University of Health Sciences VC Dr Javed Akram, Services Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Dr Mahmood Ayaz, Sheikh Zayed Hospital Chairman Dr Mateen and Additional Secretary Technical Salman Shahid also attended the meeting. Regarding admission to MBBS and BDS programmes in public sector institutes, the secretary briefed that the number of admission seats in medical colleges will not be reduced.
