K-P authorizes DC as local govt administrator

Provincial government on authorised the district government to run the administrative affairs

After the local government completed its term in the province late last month, the provincial government on Friday authorised the district government to run the administrative affairs of local governments until a fresh local government can be sworn in.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Department on Friday said in a notification that all district councils, tehsil councils, town councils, village and neighbourhood councils in the province had dissolved from August 29.

In wake of this, the notice said that the local government department, under the Local Government Act 2013, had authorized the deputy commissioner to perform administrative functions of the Nazim.

In Peshawar, the notice said that the Peshawar Deputy Commissioner has been authorised to perform the administrative functions of the Nazim, and the Peshawar City District Government.

Similarly, Tehsil Municipal Officer/ Town Municipal Officers have been authorised to perform administrative functions of nazims of the Tehsil Municipal Administration/Town Municipal Administration.
