ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) in its on-going campaign confiscated smuggled cigarettes from various shops.

The district management and law enforcement agencies have planned to pay special focus on checking sale of illegal tobacco products near educational institutions and enforcement of all tobacco control laws, a statement said on Wednesday.

Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Deputy Director General (Health) Dr Minhajus Siraj said licensing of tobacco vendors had proved to be a very effective tool in controlling unlawful sale of cigarettes. "This protects our kids from harmful effects of smoking and uneventful loss of life due to cancers and heart diseases," he added.
