Balochistan chief secretary reviews security plan for Muharram

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Capt (retd) Fazeel Asghar on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security plan for Muharram particularly Ashura processions.

Additional chief secretary home, secretary health, secretary local government, Quetta deputy inspector general (DIG), Quetta commissioner and the Frontier Corps (FC) officials attended the meeting. Giving a detailed briefing on Muharram security, the Special Branch DIG has said security forces have finalised the security plans and additional troops of the FC, police and Levies have been deployed outside Imam Bargahs during Majalis.

“Entry and exit points at Marriabad and Hazara Town have been sealed and the CCTV cameras are being installed in order to monitor procession’s routes,” he added.

Addressing the meeting, Asghar said the provincial government is responsible to secure lives and properties of people and the provincial government is utilizing all resources to secure Muharram’s processions.

"The month of Muharram and martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) teaches us that instead of dividing the Ummah in the name of sects we should work for supremacy of Islam,” he said.

The chief secretary directed authorities to ensure foolproof security during Muharram.
