QUETTA: A protest was held in the Absar area of Turbat on Wednesday against unannounced electricity outages with the protesters urging the government to take immediate action against the province’s primary power utility. The protest, which passed through various localities, culminated outside the office of the Makran commissioner. The protesters raised slogans against the top management of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) and alleged that supply of electricity had been suspended intentionally in the Absar area. “The new administration of QESCO has increased unnecessary load shedding in Absar, which has increased public woes, including water scarcity in the scorching heat,” said a citizen who was part of the protest. After the protesters blocked the Makran Highway, the assistant commissioner of Turbat, Khurram Khalid, negotiated an end to the agitation and asked the electric utility to submit a report regarding unannounced power outages.
