LAHORE:

Twenty-nine inspectors have been posted as station house officers (SHOs) in a major reshuffle in the Lahore Police, according to a notification issued on Thursday. Twenty-seven of the SHOs that were replaced were sub inspectors (SIs).

Punjab’s Inspector General Javed Iqbal had earlier instructed city district and regional police chiefs to appoint inspectors rather than SIs as SHOs. He had also told them not to appoint inspectors who had been found guilty of misconduct and punished on three or more occasions. He had ordered this reshuffle complete by July 7.

DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and divisional SPs interviewed 40 inspectors on Tuesday and 40 on Wednesday night, with over a dozen due to be interviewed on Thursday night.

Twenty-six of the replaced SIs have been transferred to police lines while four remain as SHOs. They will likely be replaced soon.
