ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday launched the third phase of its campaign to enrol out-of-school-children in the federal capital. The campaign aims to enrol the remaining 4,000 such children within the Islamabad Capital Territory.

An official of the Federal Education Ministry said that in 2018, Pakistan was the second-worst country for out-of-school-children (OOSC with some 22.8 million children between 5-16-years-of-age not having access to school.

To address this, he said that they launched a pilot project in the federal capital in November last year to determine the exact number of out-of-school-children (OOSC) and to then enrol them in phases.

The survey found that some 10,981 children were not enrolled in any school of the federal capital. In the first two phases, the government managed to enrol 7,188 students in public schools of the federal capital.
