NAB issues two-year performance report

It reveals that NAB DG managed to hold plea bargains worth Rs8.112 billion since October 2017 to date

LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore issued its two years’ performance report after Shahzad Saleem assumed charge as the director general (DG) of the anti-graft watchdog.

The report contains details related to recoveries made through plea bargain (PB) law in corruption scams, particularly in cases related to the housing sector during the period.

The report revealed that NAB DG managed to hold plea bargains worth Rs8.112 billion since October 2017 to date. As much as Rs5.617 billion has so far been recovered from the corrupt elements during these two years while Rs3.248 billion has been returned to the victims. NAB Lahore has also made an indirect recovery of Rs31.240 billion during Saleem’s tenure as the DG.

Talking about the recovery in the housing sector, NAB Lahore showed enormous success in dealing with cases of alleged illegal housing societies.

Out of 62 cases, NAB has cleared 40 cases in two years, whereas, NAB Lahore investigation teams successfully held plea bargain agreements amounting to Rs3 billion involving 24,300 victims as beneficiaries. As much as Rs2.8 billion has been received from the accused.
