Power surge at LESCO leads to prolonged outages

Prolonged power outages not only hamper business activities but also take their toll on citizens' patience.

LAHORE: A power surge at the  Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) prolonged a power outage in Lahore for upto four hours, whereas, the grid station was shut down, Express News reported Thursday.

According to Lecso officials, the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) shuts down the grid station without informing Lesco which is augmenting the problem of loadshedding and extended power outages.

In some areas, home appliances worth millions of rupees short-circuited due to fluctuation.

Lesco gets 1,500-2,000 MW less electricity supply than the required.

Officials claimed that the problem was not only hampering business activities in the city but also worrying citizens.

Pepco officials blamed Lesco for the power surge.
