Relief teams are sensitising the population living near the river banks about safety

LAHORE: Punjab Police, under directions from Punjab Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan, are actively participating in relief activities to protect the lives and valuables of flood-affected villagers. Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) officials, posted at Sahoka Pattan check post in Bahawalnagar, rescued and shifted many flood-affected families to safety. Mock exercises are being conducted at 49 riverine check posts, in Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Mianwali and Attock, to counter the flood situation and rescue the victims. Relief teams are also sensitising the population living near the river banks about safety. Contact numbers are being provided by police to them for help in case of emergency. PHP Manzoor Sarwar Chaudhary said that officials deputed at PHP and riverine check posts are also lending help in relief activities in addition to performing their routine duties.
