He was speaking to journalists at a press conference held at a private hotel on Monday.
“Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has given record grants to the corporation, while previous rulers didn’t give importance to TDCP. In the past, the corporation had financial crisis and was even unable to pay to its employees,” he recalled. Dr Cheema said that various historical sites, South Punjab’s culture, traditional cuisine and festivals can attract tourists. “We are working on a plan to start a ferry service in Indus River, Ghazi Ghat, in Dera Ghazi Khan.”
The range of Koh-e-Suleman is God gifted as it has beautiful spots and mountains. It is also a land of Sufis and several festivals and Urs take place every year. The Punjab chief minister has provided half a billion rupees to promote tourism in the province.”

He added that in the past the amount allocated for tourism was never more than Rs100 to Rs200 million. Therefore, allocation of huge amounts is a welcome step to promote tourism in DG Khan. Moreover, new hotels and motels are being constructed to provide decent accommodation to the tourists.
