Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan said that officers should take action and conduct a crackdown under their supervision against elimination of drugs. “Dealers especially involved in drugs and other heinous crimes should be made a symbol of disgrace.” He expressed these views while chairing a plenary session at central police office. The IGP directed to conduct intelligence based operations, especially in the vicinity of educational institutions and hostels, to breakdown the network of drug dealers. A weekly report of these operations will be sent to central police office. He expressed concern over the death of a young person due to overdose of the drug ‘ice’ and said that a full-fledged operation should be launched, taking the matter as a test case and taking into account all aspects of the matter.
