A Britain-born Sikh father was reportedly choked to death by a fellow guest, Roger Bullman following a noise complaint at a hotel in Thailand's Phuket.

According to The Guardian, Amitpal Singh Bajaj died protecting his family when a man from the next room at the Centara Grand Hotel barged into their room and attacked him. Bajaj had complained about the man making too much noise while his family was trying to sleep. The complaint led to a fight that ended in the British man's death, Phuket News reported.

A statement released by the Sikh Press Association Bandha said that the "man barged in through the balcony door".

"My husband tried to block the man and move me and my son away. As the man was kicking, punching and just, beating him up, my husband told me to please leave and save our son," said the wife of the victim, Bandhna Kaur Bajaj.

Bandhna Kaur added that she and her 2-year-old son ran out of the hotel and hid near a tree. She called the hotel reception for help. She was later informed by the Thai Police about her husband's death.

In a statement, the United Kingdom Foreign Office said they were "supporting the family of a British man following his death in Phuket and are in contact with the Thai authorities".

Phuket News added that the Thai Police had arrested a man for manslaughter and trespassing by the act of violence. Meanwhile, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that a Norwegian citizen has been arrested in Thailand and is being provided consular assistance.
