ISLAMABAD: Upon the specific directives of Member Customs Jawwad Agha, the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has stepped up its anti-smuggling drive. According to a statement, a truck along with a 40-foot container was intercepted at M2 on Saturday. Apparently, the container looked empty but smuggled goods were lying in a secret chamber behind a fabricated wall. Some of the seized items were of Indian origin. Apparently, the stuff was imported into Afghanistan through transit trade and later it was being smuggled back to Pakistan. The confiscated items consist of cellphones, milk powder, etc. The estimated value of seized consignment is close to Rs20 million.
