QUETTA: Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) sealed 15 shops as part of its anti-encroachment drive in the city’s Bacha Khan Chowk and surrounding areas. The shops were sealed as their owners had rented out the space outside their shops – which is public property – to vendors and stall owners, said QMC Administrator Tariq Javed Mengal. It also confiscated goods from such illegall stalls set up in Baldia Plaza. “The drive was launched on the orders of the Balochistan High Court and shall continue without any discrimination. Bacha Khan Chowk is one of the central commercial areas of city and it will be cleared of all encroachment,” Mengal said. He added that crackdown against such illegal structures would continue with the same intensity.
